NGO holds training for Nazira SHGs
A training-cum-workshop of self help groups was held recently at the Simaluguri Natya Mandir, Nazira, stated a press release.
Organized by Probaah, a leading NGO of the State in association with the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), the workshop was by attended 150 participants from different self help groups under around 20 village panchayats of Nazira sub-division.
During the two days of training period, the participants were trained about mushroom cultivation, use of advanced technology and machines in rural agriculture, dairy farming, piggery and other such employment generating schemes through which they can sustain themselves. They were also trained about self employment schemes, formation of SHG’s, financial management of the self help groups etc.
Inaugurating the workshop-cum-training, Minister for Handloom, Textile and Sericulture Dr Hemo Probha Saikia appealed to the participants to reap the benefits of different SHG schemes and also to become self reliant through adoption of self employment options.
The training was conducted by SIRD officials namely, Ms Chandana Mahanta, Dr Bipul Kumar Deka, Dr Bichitra Kumar Das, district DRDA official Rupak Kumar Mazumdar, Chief General Manager of Sivasagar branch of NABARD and top officials from some leading financial institutions.
The Deputy Commissioner of the Sivasagar district, Ms Gayatri Barua and Sub Divisional Officer of Nazira also took part in the workshop and offered their valuable suggestions to the participants. The programme was conducted by the President of Probaah, Mr Debabrata Saikia.
